Natla is seen placing the Scion on an ancient altar of sorts. The scion remains suspended in mid air, possibly by a magnetic field. It suddenly activates and the altar turns. The room beyond lights up and a countdown timer is activated. Natla looks into the next room at a huge ominous yellow sphere.

Outside, the rocky top of the mountain on this island blows apart, revealing the top of a golden pyramid. An energy swarms around the apex.



Wait until the lights come on. Then run forward and pick up the Uzi clips (1). Ready weapons, and take a few steps forward until the first sphere on the left explodes, releasing a zombie (1). Jump back and kill the from within the entry way. Step out of the tunnel and walk forward and toward the first sphere on the right. When it explodes back flip back into the entryway and while shooting to kill the zombie (2) that is released.

Now, with guns still readied walk forward on top of the fleshy pulsing stuff in the middle until the last sphere on the left explodes, releasing another zombie (3). Immediately back flip away and fire at it until it explodes. Continue forward until Lara reaches the door, and pick up more Uzi clips (2).

Turn left and head toward the door, which will automatically open for Lara, and run up the stairs. When Lara reaches the top of the stairs, run directly forward and to the left across to the dark corner, where she can pick up a small Medi Pack (3). Run back to the top of the stairs and then run over to the bridge in the middle and pick up the shotgun shells (4). Ready weapons and take a hop forward, and then back flip away twice. The sphere below will explode releasing a winged demon (4). Kill it from above.

Back up and run along the right side of the room until Lara reaches a dark nook in the back. There is a switch that Lara can throw there, which opens a door directly across from Lara. Turn and face right and run across the room and throw the switch there, which opens another door. Ready weapons and walk along the side of the room Lara is currently on and then start to cross the bridge. When the sphere below explodes and releases another winged demon (5), back flip away from the bridge and kill the demon from above.

Back up to the side of the bridge Lara came from and walk forward, a zombie (6) will explode form the last sphere. Try to kill it from above, but be aware that it can run up the stairs. Keep lots of distance between it and Lara. Continue along the same side of the room, to the door on the wall that Lara just opened, and descend the stairs. At the second bend of the spiral stairs, there is another switch. Throw it, and continue down to the door below, which will also open automatically for Lara when she approaches.

Ready weapons and enter the doorway. Run forward until Lara is standing on a small ledge which juts into a tall room filled with lava. There is a winged demon (7) above her, so begin to fire when it is in range. When it gets too close, hop backward into the tunnel and shoot at it from the other side of the tunnel, because it's too big to get through the doorway.
SECRET #1
Now run back to the ledge and hang from the front of it. Release and immediately press the action key again to grab the stone ledge below. Pull up and run forward into the tunnel, which is SECRET #1. Pick up the magnum clips (5), the large Medi Pack (6), and more Uzi clips (7). Continue forward into the tunnel, and climb up onto a sloped tunnel. Run up the sloped tunnel and safety drop to the tunnel below. The tunnel extends from a ledge, diagonally opposite the one Lara previously hung and dropped from in the tall room, to a dark stone cave with more of the transparent red webbed floor.
Head toward the stone cave, away from the tall room. Walk forward and then turn left and continue forward on the transparent ledge, and then turn and face right. There is a crevice below Lara on the stone wall, so take a standing jump and grab the crevice. Release the crevice and immediately press the action key again to grab onto the ledge of the tunnel below. Pull up and enter the tunnel. Run forward up the first slope and turn right at the top. There is a switch there on Lara's right that she need to throw, which opens the door outside. Continue forward up the next slope, climbing two small ledges until Lara is facing the room she just came from. Pick up the Uzi clips (8, 9), and run forward, dropping to the transparent ledge below.

Walk to the very end of the transparent ledge, and hop back to take a running jump and grab to get to the ledge on the other side. While in midair, the sphere below will explode and release a winged demon. Pull up and run into the doorway. Lara can ready weapons and kill the demon (8) from inside the tunnel or just move on. Continue forward until Lara reaches a room with a slope and a pool.

Take a running jump and grab to reach the stone pillar in room. Then turn and face the slope on the left. Lara can see which blocks she can land on and which ones will slide her into the water or a pit of spikes. Take a running jump diagonally to the right to get to the first block, then immediately take a standing jump diagonally forward and to the right to get to the next block to avoid the boulder rolling toward her. If Lara isn't lined up right just take a side jump to avoid the boulder and slide into the water to try again, though this time the boulder trap will have already been sprung. Now at this point she can take a standing jump to the right to slide down to the ledge below, but that ledge is also linked to a boulder trap which Lara will need to avoid, or take a running jump directly to the right, skipping over that trap to the next ledge.
SECRET #2
Take a standing diagonally upwards and to the right, then one to the left and then two more to the right. Climb into the tunnel and run forward into SECRET #2. Pick up a large Medi Pack (10), Uzi clips (11), and magnum clips (12). Return to the mouth of the tunnel, then safety drop to the ledge below, then turn and face down the slope.
Slide down the ledge until Lara reaches the stone ledge below. Take a running jump and grab to reach the stone ledge across the pool from the one Lara is currently standing on. Run up the steps and then take another running jump and grab to get to the stone pillar. Grab the large Medi Pack (13), and take another running jump and grab to get to the last stone pillar. Enter the tunnel on her left and pick up the two sets of Uzi clips (14, 15) and then throw the lever. Exit the cave, and dive into the water. Swim around until Lara finds the lever on the wall.

The lever opens the transparent webbed door, except its on a timer, so immediately swim back to the ledge below the first stone pillar and climb up out of the water. Climb up onto the stone pillar and take a diagonally running jump to the first ledge. Take a standing jump to the second ledge, and then take two running jumps to the right to reach the ledge in front of the door and run through it into a room with three lava flows on the right.

Take a running jump and grab to reach the lower step across the lava. Climb onto the next step and walk along the ledge until Lara reaches the end. Take a diagonal standing into the brown tunnel to the left. Run forward up the tunnel, being careful to take a running jump over a spike pit and climb up to the top, where there is a small pool. Drop into the pool and swim down. Pick up the shotgun shells (16), and pull the lever which opens the door. Swim through the doorway, and surface in a tunnel.

Walk forward and stop short of the mouth of the tunnel. Take a jump forward or run forward to avoid the steel jaws. Immediately grab the Uzi clips (17, 18), turn and face right, walk to the edge, hop back take a running jump and grab to reach the ledge opposite to the one Lara is currently on, and duck inside the tunnel, just avoiding a winged demon (9) waiting for Lara in the room. Kill the demon from inside the tunnel, occasionally stepping out to lure it into the open. After it's dead, pick up more Uzi clips from the ledge (19, 20). Reenter the tunnel and drop into the pool inside.

Swim forward into the tunnel, until Lara reaches a large room with four underwater pillars. Behind the first pillar on her right is a small Medi Pack (21) on the floor of the pool. Surface opposite the tunnel Lara swam in from, and climb out of the water. There are five switches in this room. Lara only needs to throw three of the switches to open the three underwater gates to exit this room. While facing the the tunnel Lara swam in from and standing on the ledge opposite to that tunnel Lara should throw the one nearest on her left, the farthest on her right, and the middle one on the left. The last of those three switches will also activate a sphere, which contains a zombie (10). It is possible to tell which sphere will explode by looking at which sphere has the moving pipes connected to it. Lara can pull the other two if obtaining all the kills is important. The remaining enemies consist of two additional zombies (11, 12) and a winged demon (13).

After the three underwater gates are open, run up the little slope and grab the two Uzi clips2 (22, 23) and jump into the water and swim through the tunnel formerly blocked by the gates. Surface in the brown tunnel and run forward. Turn the corner and run up the slope until Lara reaches the fleshy pulsing tunnel. Turn right and throw the switch to open the door. Enter the doorway and grab the Uzi clips (24, 25) and watch as a boulder rolls down a slope blocking the exit to this room. Run over to where the lava boulder emerged from. To the right of the the ramp that the boulder rolled down, there is a block that Lara can pull once, and then push once so that it blocks the ramp. Exit the room through the fleshy red tunnel. A door will open automatically for Lara when she exits the room. Run through the tunnel until Lara returns to the switch she threw to enter this room. Now notice that the lava boulder has returned to its initial position. Raise the switch to open the door, and enter the room again. This time the boulder should be stopped by the block Lara put in its path.

Run forward into the tunnel and ready weapons. Run to the end of the tunnel and step out onto the ledge. Look out for another winged demon (14) and open fire when it is in range. Duck back into the tunnel when it gets too close. After it's dead, then take a running jump over to the ledge on the right and enter the tunnel.

When Lara reaches the bend in the tunnel, ready weapons and take a step out, releasing a winged demon (15) from a sphere. Duck back into the tunnel and shoot at the demon from within the tunnel. When the demon is dead, step out a little further, to activate the second demon (16). Duck into the tunnel again to take care of this demon as well. After the second demon is dead, then walk into the room. Line Lara up with either pink fleshy ledge opposite the spiked pit. Slide down the brown marble slope and take a jump as Lara nears the end to land on the pulsating pink fleshy stuff on the other side. Run up the slope and pick up a large Medi Pack (26), shotgun shells (27), and Uzi clips (28, 29), then enter the pulsating pink fleshy tunnel.

When Lara reaches the end of the tunnel you will find yourself on a ledge. Ready weapons and side step to the right toward the center of the room. A winged demon (17) will appear, so kill it quickly. Then grab the Uzi clips (30), sitting on the middle of the room. Return to the entryway, and then take a diagonal jump to the alcove on the right. Then take another diagonal jump to the ledge that is in front of the yellow sphere. The sphere will explode, releasing another winged demon (18), so immediately duck into the tunnel on the left and ready weapons. Kill the demon from within the tunnel, and after it is dead, pick up the Uzi clips (31) that are inside the tunnel. Return to the lower ledge Lara first landed on, and look out toward the pulsating heap in the middle of the room. Aim Lara at the brown slanted slope just to the left of the ledge, and then take a running jump to it.

Without traveling to the left or to the right, turn around and face the spot where the yellow sphere was. There are two zombies (19, 20) in the tunnel to the right of it. Ready weapons and try to kill the zombies from where Lara is. If Lara has to, sidestep carefully to the right to get a better shot, but once Lara has lock on one of them, sidestep carefully back. Lara is out of range when she's standing on those blocks, so the zombies won't shoot at her.

After the two zombies are dead, walk to the other side of the fleshy mass, where there is another brown slanted slope that Lara can walk out on. Take a running jump from that slope to the stone ledge directly across. Pick up the Uzi clips (32, 33) on her right and run up the slope and throw the switch. Then walk back to the part of the ledge Lara landed on earlier. Walk forward one more block, being careful not to step onto the very slanted blocks. Take a running jump over the two slanted blocks to land safely on the ledge on the other side. Pull the block once to reveal a tunnel behind it. Run into the tunnel until it bends back toward the room Lara was just in. Stop as metal jaws begin to snap closed. Time a jump or run through the jaws, then turn right and take a running jump to the ledge the two zombies where formerly guarding.

Run up the ledge, turn left and climb up the wide ledges until Lara reaches the corridor above. Pick up the small Medi Pack (34) and the Uzi clips (35). Ready weapons and run down the tunnel, out to the ledge. Fire at the winged demon (21) flying above, ducking back into the tunnel when necessary. Take a diagonal running jump to the ledge on the right.

Step into the tunnel where the door will open automatically for Lara. Turn the corner and Lara will find herself on a ledge in a room filled with lava. Walk forward to the end of the ledge, and take a running jump to the ledge in the back corner. Enter the tunnel, turn the corner and throw the switch to move the pillars in the lava room. Exit the tunnel, and turn right facing the ledge Lara was on before and take a running jump to get back. Run back to the entry and turn left to face the first pillar. Take a running jump to get to it. Face the next pillar and take a diagonal standing jump to reach it, then turn and face the third pillar and take a diagonal standing jump to reach it. Face the tunnel in the wall in front of Lara, and either take a standing jump to it from the middle of the third pillar or drop down to the ledge below and climb up into the tunnel. Enter the tunnel and throw the switch. Exit the tunnel, taking a standing jump to the shorter of the two pillars. Then take a running jump diagonally to the left to the far pillar. Take two running jumps to cross the next pillar and jump into the tunnel.

Ready Uzis and walk further into the tunnel. Stop just before Lara reaches the brown room. Turn and face the wall on her left and walk forward until Lara is pressed against the wall. Take a side flip into the room and start firing, then immediately jump back into the tunnel. Repeat until three zombies (22, 23, 24) are dead.
SECRET #3
After all three zombies are dead, run back down the tunnel toward the lava room until Lara reaches the bend, reverse, and run back down the tunnel into the brown room. This will activate pressure pad. Run up the right side of the fleshy tunnel and at the top just before Lara enters the small tunnel there is a doorway that is open on her right. Enter this timed door into SECRET #3. Pick up Uzi clips (36), a large Medi Pack (37), and shotgun shells (38), then exit the room.
Enter the narrow red tunnel at the top of the wide fleshy tunnel, and run forward until Lara reaches a transparent webbed door. The door will open automatically for her, so enter it. Take a few more steps forward until Lara is clear of the door and it will close behind her. Do not run forward and throw the switch. It is a trap that will close the next door behind her and release the lava flow. Instead, turn around and face the wall on the right adjacent to the webbed door. Jump and grab and pull up to the tunnel above. Run down the tunnel, exiting on another small ledge. Take a running diagonal jump to the ledge on the right and grab the Uzi clips (39, 40).

Ready weapons and run down the tunnel. Enter the next room and run along the right wall forward to the bulge in the middle of the room. A zombie (25) will appear, so kill it, jumping sideways when necessary. Pick up the Uzi clips (41). Run forward along the right wall until Lara reaches the end of the room. Face left where Lara will notice dart holes in the wall. Take a swan dive and roll forward to avoid the first dart gun. Center Lara carefully between the path of the darts, and while still facing forward, jump sideways onto the ramp, then immediately jump sideways back off. After the boulder passes, side jump back onto the ramp and time a jump forward into the tunnel beyond the metal jaws.

Run forward up the slope until Lara reaches a room with three blocks. Push the one on the left twice so that Lara can get past it. Enter the tunnel, turn right and continue forward until Lara reaches the two switches, two trap doors, and the red door. It should be apparent that both are traps. It's a choice as to which one is the preferred one to fall for.

If Lara throws the switch on the left, immediately jump backward to avoid the fall as the trap door opens. Then walk forward to the edge of the hole, and safety drop down into the hole, but as soon as Lara begin to fall press the jump button to take a jump at the bottom to avoid sliding into a pit of spikes. Lara will take a little damage from the fall. Run forward up the slope. If Lara throws the switch on the right, again Lara should immediately jump backward to avoid falling into the trap door. Walk around to either side of the hole and safety drop into the hole were the ledge below is highest, taking a tiny bit of damage when Lara hits. From the middle of the ledge jump over the lava pit and immediately jump back to avoid the boulder that's headed her way. Once the boulder is safely tucked away in the lava pit, jump over the pit and head up the slope.

When Lara reaches the room at the top of the slope, turn left and run toward the corner, where Lara can climb up. Climb again to the higher ledge and throw the switch opening the red door. Climb up twice more until Lara reaches the top, then safety drop to the floor. Run forward until Lara reaches the red door.

Enter the doorway and run up the slope. When Lara reach the door at the top, do not enter the room too far. Take one step into the room and then turn right or side step and pick up more Uzi clips (42, 43). Run around to the other side of the open red door, which will close automatically, and pick up more Uzi clips (44, 45), then ready the Uzis. Walk forward toward the the red fleshy doorway, stopping in front of the slanted block. Take two standing jumps forward, which will activate the sphere on the ground and release a centaur (26). Immediately start firing and take two jumps back. Begin the jumping side to side to avoid its fireballs, while pumping lead into it until it dies.

After the centaur is dead, throw the switch top open the door with a steep ramp down. For all the kills, Lara can step on the fleshy pink slopes that flank the doorway and it will release a zombie (27) and a winged demon (28) from the two spheres above.

Otherwise, step into the doorway and slide down to the bottom. There will be two mummies (29, 30) that Lara will need to take out at the bottom. There are a couple of choices. Lara can ready Uzis and slide down shooting and hope Lara takes both of them out before they maul her, or she can slide down, immediately run to the right and climb onto a pillar there and shoot at them from safety. Lara has to get there fast because the mummies attack almost immediately. Either way, Lara must to kill them quickly4.

After the two mummies are dead, do not shoot at the next creature (31) Lara meets. It mirrors her every move, including shooting at her. Instead of shooting at it, climb onto the short stone pillar to the right of the ramp Lara slid in from, if Lara's not already there. Take a diagonal running jump to the tall stone pillar to the left, then take another diagonal running jump to reach the stone platform. Throw the switch, then reverse, and run off the platform. Run over to the short sandy pillar on her right, then take a running jump to the tall sandy pillar, and then another running jump to the structure in the other corner. Run to the middle of the structure until the flesh creature falls into the open trap door3. Run off of the structure Lara is standing on, climb onto the short stone pillar, take a running jump to the tall stone pillar and another running jump back to the stone platform with the switch and trap door. If the flesh creature fell into the trap, the door in the far corner should be open4.

Enter the door way and climb up. Pick up the Uzi clips (46), and ready the Uzis. Run along the right side of the tunnel, and as soon as Lara reaches the point that the tunnel turns to the left, she should be able to hear a centaur (32). Immediately begin to back flip back down the tunnel. When the centaur emerges, begin to jump side to side while shooting until it's dead. Run back up the tunnel, and cross diagonally from the right side of the tunnel before the bend to the mouth of the tunnel on the right. A zombie (33) will awaken, so immediately back flip back into the tunnel and then back down the tunnel, repeating the side to side jumping and shooting to kill the zombie. Return to the mouth of the tunnel and pick up more Uzi clips (46).

Then run along the left side of the room with the lava pool and pick up more Uzi clips (48). Don't throw the switch yet, because this switch controls the draw bridge. Instead, run all the way around the lava pit to the right side, and throw the switch there, which opens the door. Then run back to the left side and throw the switch which raises the drawbridge. Then run to the bridge and into the door. Don't waste any time because everything is on a timer.
Scion
After Lara enters the doorway, she can pick up even more Uzi clips (49, 50) and then walk up the short slope and make an attempt to grab the Scion and watch a very impressive motion video sequence and cut scene.



Lara steps into the altar room. There is a sound of machinery. Lara reaches out to take hold of the Scion, and another vision is revealed to Lara.

The usurpant ruler of Atlantis, Natla, is found with her hands shackled to two pillars in the middle of a circular dais. She screams, "You can't do this!"

One of the remaining members of this Triumvirate, Qualopec, passes sentence, "We condemn you, Natla of Atlantis, for your crimes. For your flagrant misuse of your powers and for robbing us of our..."

Natla interrupts to defend herself, "You can't! I..."

Qualopec continues, "Breaking the free bond of consent that our people are ruled and secured under, and invading Tihocan and myself with our own army. Our own warriors emptied from our pyramid so that you could use the pyramid -- it's powers of creation -- for your own mindless destruction!"

An appalled Natla answers, "Mindless!? Look at you! Neither of you have one squirt of inventive juice in your heads. Wasters!"

Qualopec turns to Tihocan, unsympathetically, "Let's just do it."

"Tihocan!" Natla cries out pleadingly.

Tihocan answers, "You used the sacramental place as a source for your individual pleasure, as some freak factory. Nearby, a mutant stands ready.
Natla attempts to explain, "They're survivalists. A new generation."

"A slaughter heap now," Tihocan crosses, "And you. We're going to lock you in limbo. Make your veins, heart, feet, and that diseased brain stick solid with frozen blood. Greet your eternal unrest, Natla!" The Tihocan looks over at Qualopec who gestures to a mutant. The mutant flips a switch, and translucent circular walls rise up from the dais, interlocking and surrounding Natla. A substance begins to fill the chamber within.

"You won't rest either," Natla curses, "or your damned continent of Atlantis!" She is entombed in the large frozen cylinder.

Lara is thrown back by some kind of electrical shock as Natla approaches.

"Back again?" Natla asks.

"And you?" Lara asks back, "For a grand re-opening, I assume?"

Natla explains her grand plans, "Evolutions in a rut. Natural selection at an all time low. Shipping out fresh meat will incite territorial rages again, will strengthen us and advance us, even create new breeds." She gestures to the enormous yellow incubator sphere.

"A kind of evolution on steroids, then?" Lara asks, rhetorically.

Natla, somewhat pleased by Lara's comprehension, "A kick in the pants. Those runts Qualopec and Tihocan had no idea. The cataclysm of Atlantis struck a race of langering wimps; plummeted them to the very basics of survival again. It shouldn't happen like that."

"Or like this," Lara sighs, gesturing around.

A computer voice announces a status report, "Hatching commences in fifteen seconds."

"Too late for abortions now," Natla adds triumphantly.

"Not without the heart of the operation," Lara replies, pointing her gun at the Scion.

Natla, not willing to be thwarted twice in one lifetime screams, "Noooo!" an hurls herself at Lara, knocking them both off the platform. Lara reaches out and catches the ledge below the yellow incubator sphere, as Natla continues to fall into the darkness below. Lara pulls herself up onto the ledge, and rolls over on her back to look up at the giant egg that is about to hatch.

The computer continues to countdown, "Ten... five... four... three... two... one..."

  2. Special thanks to Steven Moore, Associate Editor of Game Junkie Online, for finding items #22 and 23, in this level which I forgot to pick up as well as pointing out two kills that I counted but forgot to note in my walkthrough.

  3. Although you are the cause if the doppleganger's demise, the game engine does not count it as a "kill" and your final statistics will only show 32 kills. This is okay. We are just crediting it to you, even if the game engine won't.

  4. One additional late breaking note about the doppleganger: It seems that a couple of people, including myself, have noticed that if you spend far too much time in that room trying to figure out what to do, then the doppleganger flesh creature will stop moving and cease to mirror Lara's activities. It is unclear as to whether this means that there is a time limit on the puzzle or that there is simply a bug, but when it happens, most of us (I did, anyhow) assumed that all was lost and I restored from an earlier saved game. Keith Rogers, reported to the Guide that if you take Lara to the entrance to this cave, stand with her heels against the base of the slope that she slid in from (face away from the doorway and slope) and take a back flip onto the slop and slide back into the room. Keith reports that for him, this cause the creature to mirror Lara's actions again. The Guide has not yet confirmed that this works for everyone all the time, but thanks go to Keith for suggesting something else to try than just restoring a previous saved game.
