|
The national past-time of the ancient Romans was watching gladiators
battle wild beasts and each other in the Colosseum.
|
Sights to See
This colosseum is designed much like other arenas, except this one is
totally enclosed because it was built completely underground.
Spectator seating surrounds three sides of the oblong arena, and a
private booth is set in the last side for the emperors. |
Though the colosseum is in poor repair, suffering from a cave in, much of the underground tunnels and cages that once held beasts are still accessible. In fact, there are still beasts running around.
Local Fauna
As you would expect in a colosseum, there are plenty of lions,
cougars, crocodiles, and gorillas with a few bats thrown in for good
measure.
|
Tourism
Although, not the most popular vacation spot in Europe, you will find
one other visitor at the colosseum. He's not the friendly sort, so
you'd do well to avoid him.
|
Souvenirs
You will need to pick up one rusty key before you leave.
Unfortunately, you won't be finding it at the local hardware store.
|
Hidden Treasures
There are three secrets in the colosseum. Actually, there is only one
secret actually within the colosseum. You'll need to learn to
do some pretty fancy footwork, but it will be worth it, because you'll
need to learn these moves for the future anyways.
|
Hazards
The first thing you'll notice is that there are wild animals
everywhere. Don't be caught off guard. They will show up in places
that you previously thought were cleared out. Besides the beasts,
there's just the issue of the "other guest".
